Do equidistant energy levels necessitate a harmonic potential?

چکیده

Abstract Experimental results from literature show equidistant energy levels in thin Bi films on surfaces, suggesting a harmonic oscillator description. Yet this conclusion is by no means imperative, especially considering that any measurement only yields finite range and with nonzero uncertainty. Within study we review isospectral potentials the investigate applicability of hypothesis to recent measurements. First, describe experimental model, obtaining realistic size depth resulting quantum well. Second, use shift-operator approach calculate anharmonic non-polynomial producing (partly) spectra. We discuss different potential types interpret possible modeling applications. Finally, applying n th order perturbation theory exactly eigenenergies cannot be achieved polynomial potentials, except potential. In summary, aim give an overview over which conclusions may drawn determination not.

Lamplighter Graphs Do Not Admit Harmonic Functions of Finite Energy

We prove that a lamplighter graph of a locally finite graph over a finite graph does not admit a non-constant harmonic function of finite Dirichlet energy.

A New Modification of Morse Potential Energy Function

Interaction of meso — tetrakis (p-sulphonato phenyl) porphyrin (hereafter abbreviated to TSPP)with Na+ has been examined using HF level of theory with 6-31G* basis set. Counterpoise (CP)correction has been used to show the extent of the basis set superposition error (BSSE) on thepotential energy curves. The numbers of Na+ have a significant effect on the calculated potentialenergy curve (includ...

Nucleon-nucleon scattering in a harmonic potential

The discrete energy-eigenvalues of two nucleons interacting with a finite-range nuclear force and confined to a harmonic potential are used to numerically reconstruct the free-space scattering phase shifts. The extracted phase shifts are compared to those obtained from the exact continuum scattering solution and agree within the uncertainties of the calculations. Our results suggest that it mig...

Microscopic optical buffering in a harmonic potential

In the early days of quantum mechanics, Schrödinger noticed that oscillations of a wave packet in a one-dimensional harmonic potential well are periodic and, in contrast to those in anharmonic potential wells, do not experience distortion over time. This original idea did not find applications up to now since an exact one-dimensional harmonic resonator does not exist in nature and has not been ...

Does motor programming necessitate response execution?

The complexity of a movement is known to affect the time it takes to initiate the movement. This effect is thought to reflect changes in the duration of processes that operate on a motor program. This question addressed here is whether programming a movement compels the start of its overt execution. If it does, then the programming processes may be said to occur after the "point of no return." ...
